No Talking Dead until the Fear the Walking Dead season finale
For Talking Dead fans this week’s episode will be the last time to see Chris Hardwick and the popular aftershow until the Fear the Walking Dead season finale.
Fear the Walking Dead just returned for the second half of season 5, but this will be the last time fans will see Chris Hardwick and Talking Dead until the season finale. AMC is putting the aftershow on hiatus, which is unfortunate news to fans who enjoy breaking down each episode with members of the cast and crew.
Talking Dead has been there to console fans through some of the most tragic moments in The Walking Dead Universe. Host Christ Hardwick has helped celebrate the victories and stay calm through the shows’ darkest times.
When it comes to Fear the Walking Dead season 5 it looks like Talking Dead will only air four times, hitting the season premiere, mid-season finale, the mid-season premiere and the season finale. Hardwick made the announcement about the show’s hiatus during the episode that followed the mid-season premiere on August 11.
Not only will there only be four episodes of Talking Dead, but at least three of them were taped. Despite Hardwick’s request for fans to send questions, the shows were taped in advance. (Both The Walking Dead Season 10 Preview Special and the August 11 Talking Dead were filmed before San Diego Comic-Con, which took place in mid-July)
It would have been challenging to have Talking Dead air after Fear the Walking Dead given that NOS4A2 and now Preacher aired at 10pm. The gap between shows has always presented a challenge for Talking Dead, even when it follows The Walking Dead.

There’s no question that Talking Dead will be back for The Walking Dead season 10. It’s possible that the aftershow will continue to focus on the flagship show and only air during special episodes of Fear the Walking Dead, but that begs the question of whether Talking Dead will air during the new spinoff series coming in Spring 2020.
For now, until we learn more about when Talking Dead will air in the future, mark your calendars for the return of Talking Dead in about eight weeks.
