Fear the Walking Dead 510 recap: 210 Words Per Minute
This week’s episode of Fear the Walking Dead pays tribute to Dawn of the Dead with a trip to the mall. Here’s your recap of “210 Words Per Minute.”
We’re back for another exciting episode of Fear the Walking Dead. This week’s episode begins with a call on the radio. It’s a man’s voice, someone who was able to see the video that viewers saw in last week’s “Channel 4.” We see a bird fly to a nest in a tree, but as the camera pans back it’s clear that the bird is real but the tree is not. It’s a fake tree inside a shopping mall.
The man has a request should someone find him. His name is Charles, or Chuck back in the day. He has one request: He wants someone to kill him. He was bitten by the dead and his time is limited, but the place he has been living has everything anyone could possibly need. He lives in a mall with a bookstore, food court and an urgent care center. It has everything you could need, and he wants them to come take what they need and kill him because by the time they arrive he will probably be gone already.
He’s wearing a red jacket and he plans on holing up in the security office and he’d like to be buried under the stars.
There is a tapping sound and a walker approaches the door. An ax breaks in and kills the walker, and then Dwight, Morgan and Grace walk inside. Dwight can’t believe the sight of it: A perfectly preserved mall. It will be enough for everyone. Grace helps herself to some candy while Dwight goes to clear the other dead. She cautions Morgan that the “candy beansies” are very hard.
Inside the office they find one of the mile marker boxes, and there’s a note for Grace with an iPod loaded with books. There’s no sign of him, though. Suddenly Grace sways and leans on the desk, claiming to have low blood sugar. Morgan questions why she calls the jelly beans “candy beansies” but her explanation is interrupted when Dwight calls them. The whole first floor is full of walkers, and Dwight can’t believe that they’re going to go down there to kill a man who is already dead. The conversation is cut short when Grace passes out.
Cue the credits, here we go! This week’s title credits include the same meadow lined with trees and the mountains in the background. It’s nighttime and there’s a carousel in the distance that is lit up and playing music.
