Joe Holt has joined the upcoming untitled spin off of The Walking Dead. Filming in Virginia, this third series will focus on the first generations to come of age in the apocalypse.

Joe Holt has joined the second Walking Dead spin off taking on the role of Leo Bennett, a family man and professor who would risk his life to save those he cares about. Filming has already started and is taking place in Virginia. This second untitled spin off is a coming of age series that will focus on the first generation to grow up only knowing life in the zombie apocalypse.

Holt has been credited in The Punisher, K-Pax, Far from Heaven, and vocals on the video game Batman: Arkham City, just to name a few. Holt even posted the announcement on his twitter page with a bit of encouragement.

I think this is a great concept for fans of The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead. Something along the same lines but with a new fresh approach. Other names that have been cast for this series are Nico Tortorella, Annet Mahendru, Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu and Hal Cumpston.

CEO Josh Sapan told Hollywood Reporter

"“With its focus on the next generation of survivors led by two young female protagonists, we think this third series is a perfect gateway to advance the narrative of this universe in ways that are multi-generational, fresh and unexpected,”"

The series will be 10 episodes long and premiere in the spring of 2020. The series will be ran by Matt Negrete who has written and produced for TWD for five years. Chief content officer of TWD, Scott Gimple is the co-creator of this series.

I personally have high hopes for this spin off. It has a unique story line that I think they could develop very well. My hope is that we have another series that start out like the current series’. Where we learn a lot about the characters and can feel we know them and are a part of their lives. I think this story line could prove to be one of the best if done right. This generation will only know the ZA and how to survive. It will be interesting to see how they have learned to survive for this long.
