Will Dwight’s mental health be compromised again as his past comes back to haunt him during season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead?

Since the introduction of the character Althea on Fear the Walking Dead, viewers have learned many character’s stories! There have also been a few hints leading fans to believe that Abraham and Eugene might make a small cameo appearance. One of Althea’s tapes is labeled “Abe/Doctor,” and Daniel’s mysterious cigar enthusiast friend and Abraham share a favorite cigar brand. The showrunners have commented on this and all but confirmed this link.

So what does this mean for Dwight? When he enters Fear The Walking Dead it is learned that he is looking for his missing wife Sherry. This is a search he has been on for some time, and not being with his wife is something that truly hurts him. John who ends up helping him on his search has to deliver the unfortunate news in the form of a letter from Sherry that says that she no longer wishes to be found.

While this is a hard hit to his emotions he seems to accept that maybe his current purpose is to be with our Fear crew and help them with their mission and maybe this will lead to his beloved Sherry. He is now starting to lean more into the Fear crew’s current missions and is beginning to have relationships with Fear characters. He and Daniel seem to have started up a friendship and this could be an interesting pairing.

In the midseason finale of season 5, as soon as Dwight got off the plane Alicia took the time to introduce him to Daniel. Now of course when you bring back new people into the main group they get introductions. Not everyone got an introduction to new members and it is even more peculiar that Alicia, after seeing Daniel for the first time in a VERY long time, made it a point to introduce Dwight of all people, to him. Daniel seems to have taken a liking to Charlie…so why did he get a big introduction to the new children?

Daniel teases Dwight about needing a hair cut, which he does end up getting, and they are in another scene playing chess together. This is an important relationship to note. If Dwight and Daniel become close, and then it is revealed that the previous cigar-loving owner of the warehouse Daniel was in, is Abraham, what happens from here?

Will this mean that not only with his friendship with Daniel ends, but could Daniel take revenge? Could this possibly be the end of Dwight? At the very least Dwight will once again come face to face with his past. It would be quite a moving scene to have Dwight and Daniel see the tape labeled with Abe/Doc together. It could potentially break Dwight as a person if he sees the excitement on Daniel’s face after viewing the tape.

Morgan is a person who knows about Dwight’s past with the saviors and everything they were involved in, but the rest of the group has no idea. If this past comes to light, with how vile it was, will they still accept him? I’m inclined to believe if this information gets out that it might stop and stay with Morgan and Daniel if Dwight breaks down to them. Don’t forget, the group has accepted Charlie even though she did shoot Nick. While what Dwight was involved in with Abraham was worse, it was not him who did the act, and it doesn’t directly affect the group as a whole.

It would be hard for Dwight to face his past but those struggles would make for an interesting story. It would also absolutely amazing to get to see Abraham again as well as a small appearance from Eugene on Fear the Walking Dead! Hopefully, this is explored during this season!
