Season 3 of The Walking Dead was a game-changer that launched the story of the survivors into the larger world beyond the farm. These were the moments we loved from this iconic season.

Season 3 of The Walking Dead started off with the survivors trying to find a safe place after they lost the farm to the dead. Lori’s pregnancy was rapidly progressing and Rick was trying to find a safe place for her to have the baby and recover. They weren’t having much luck finding a place until they found the prison.

With multiple strong fences lines in razor wire and other security measures, the prison seemed like the perfect place for them to settle. They could plant crops in the fenced-in yard area and the strong prison walls would keep out the walkers. First, they had to get rid of the dead who lingered in and around the prison and some prisoners who had never left.

Lori died giving birth to Judith. And while on a run for baby formula Glenn and Maggie were kidnapped by Merle, who reappeared for the first time since season 1 working for the Governor. Meanwhile, Andrea, who had been separated from the group when the farm fell, made it to Woodbury with Michonne and decided to stay put in Woodbury with the Governor when Michonne, sensing something was wrong, took off.

Michonne showed up at the gates of the prison with baby formula for Judith that Glenn and Maggie had dropped and that set off a long chain of events that changed the game for all of the survivors.

There was a lot of loss, some triumphant moments, and some epic battles in season 3 of The Walking Dead. Let’s relive that season by taking a look back at our panelists’ favorite moments:
