Lori sacrifices herself

Season 3 episode 4: “Killer Within”

Ethan says:

Now before it seems that this is my favourite moment because Lori died, I can confirm this is not the reason why this is my favourite moment.

I find Lori’s death to be the most heart-wrenching death so far on The Walking Dead. The performances by Sarah Wayne Callies, Lauren Cohan, and Chandler Riggs were phenomenal.

With hell breaking loose at the prison, there was no other way to save Lori. She didn’t die from a bite, she died in a way that many women across the world die from every day. It was moving and a moment that will never be forgotten in the whole run of the series. Lori was an OG character, and although she was unpopular with many fans, she was still a part of the early years of The Walking Dead. The years that began it all.

Losing Lori in this way was devastating and there couldn’t have been a better performance than the one Sarah Wayne Callies brought to screen. What makes it even more moving is that Andy Lincoln and others came to set that day to watch her final scenes. When people ask me about Season 3 of The Walking Dead Lori’s death is the first thing that comes to mind and, of course, Andrea’s too.

This scene offered tremendous acting and a sad but memorable story of how this universe isn’t deadly just because of the dead or other people, but because of things that we cannot always control that we take for granted in our world today.
