Fear the Walking Dead continues with season 5 episode 12 “Ner Tamid.” Here’s your synopsis of episode 512, airing September 1.

This week’s episode of Fear the Walking Dead shifts back to the larger group and the convoy. Despite what seems to be a secure source of fuel, the truth is that the convoy can’t stay on the road forever. (It technically could, with the use of solar panels and alternative fuel sources, but that’s beside the point) In “Ner Tamid” Charlie finds a new friend who might offer a fresh perspective on the quest for shelter.

One of the big distinctions between Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead is that The Walking Dead has seen the group settle down into a community. Even before they arrived in Alexandria, the guiding force was always trying to find a place to settle. For Fear, the quest is trying to find survivors rather than settle down.

It’s an interesting concept given that shelter would seem to be important in a zombie apocalypse, however the threats seem to be greater when strangers come to take the shelter away from you. In Fear that happened on Strand’s boat, at the resort, at Broke Jaw Ranch and even at the ballpark. Perhaps being on the road is safer, at least for now.

This week’s episode also features a team-up between Sarah and Dwight and there’s something really fun about this duo working together. Dwight has been stuck in a rut for so long that a dose of Sarah’s humor might do him some good.

Here’s the synopsis of “Ner Tamid”:

“In search of a permanent home for the convoy, Charlie is drawn to a synagogue where she encounters a Rabbi surviving on his own. Elsewhere, Sarah and Dwight face unexpected foes.”
