The Walking Dead’s Lennie James would like a Morgan and Rick reunion

Could a Rick and Morgan reunion happen in upcoming The Walking Dead films? Lennie James is on board for that.

There’s been a lot of speculation about the three films based on Rick Grimes that are set in The Walking Dead world. Other than a quick teaser that was released earlier this summer there’s been no news at all about the concept for the films and what characters from The Walking Dead or Fear The Walking Dead might appear in them.

Fans have speculated that Michonne might end up joining Rick in the films as actress Danai Gurira prepares to exit The Walking Dead main show in the upcoming season 10. But could Morgan and Rick reunite in the films as well? Talking to Digital Spy Lennie James, who plays Morgan Jones, indicated that he would be up for joining the trio of The Walking Dead films. He said:

"“Obviously if such a thing was possible I would jump at the chance,” he told us. “For me, some of the best days on both jobs – and I’ve had some fantastic days on both jobs – but some of my best days have been working with Andy, and getting a chance for Morgan and Rick to tool up again… obviously I wouldn’t say no to that.“But I haven’t asked [executive producer] Scott [Gimple], and I haven’t kind of pushed it. Just like he’s secretive to you lot, he’s very secretive to us. So none of us knows, and if it comes around I’d jump at the chance. But at this point I’ve got absolutely no idea.”"

Now that Morgan is a regular on Fear The Walking Dead it might be a little tougher to work that character into the story arc of the films but it would be very interesting to see the original two characters, Rick and Morgan, find each other again. They’ve always managed to find each other at various points throughout the apocalypse. It could happen again.

Character Crossover

Back when Fear The Walking Dead started the intention was to keep the two existing shows set in TWD universe totally separate. But over time those plans shifted. Morgan crossed over to Fear The Walking Dead and then Dwight followed him over to FearTWD. So far no characters have crossed the other way from FearTWD to The Walking Dead but at this point the timelines for the two shows are very different.

However, a character or characters from Fear The Walking Dead could potentially cross into the Rick Grimes films since nothing is known about the direction that the stories featured in the films would take.

CRM

If characters from either show appear in the films it makes sense that it would be characters from FearTWD. In the current season 5 the mysterious helicopter group whose nickname has become CRM based on a quick look at some documents one of their soldiers was carrying intersected with Althea when she was taken captive by one of the CRM soldiers, Isabelle.

That means that CRM has a pretty big reach if they are sending helicopters throughout the Virginia area and all the way to Texas, unless there are multiple CRM bases which is also a possibility.

It’s good to know that Lennie would be open to taking Morgan to another new world and crossing over to the Rick Grimes movies. Character and story crossovers are a fantastic way to immerse fans in The Walking Dead universe which really has just begun to be discovered even though the original series will be entering season 10 very soon.
