Fear The Walking Dead, You’re Still Here: Things To Note
By Liam O'Leary
1) This episode gets its name from the messages written on the tree Alicia is admiring (One of many first discovered by John and Dwight in the midseason finale, “Is Anybody Out There?”) as the episode begins: “If you’re reading this, it means You’re Still Here”.
2) The vine walker falling apart (Likely from the vines spending years digging into the walker’s body) is the first time we’ve ever seen a walker either a) fall apart in such a fashion or b) so ravaged by plant life before.
3) This episode’s title sequence features a tree in the foreground with the message “If you’re reading this, it means you’re still here” painted on it.
4) As the episode returns from the title sequence, we see Alicia poring over a map of Texas, with several X’s marked on it. Presumably, those are the locations of the “…you’re still here” trees that the convoy has found so far.
5) Strand refers to whomever is painting the messages on the trees as “Picasso”. Sadly, he doesn’t continue to call Wes that after learning he’s the artist in question.
6) It’s funny that Strand should warn Alicia to not tell Wes their location. If you remember back to the beginning of Season Two, Alicia got the group in trouble while they were aboard The Abigail by revealing crucial details to Jack, who passed them along to his pirate cohorts.
