Fear the Walking Dead’s talented star Danay Garcia has joined the cast of an upcoming feature film that begins shooting later this month.

Danay Garcia is having a great year. From her role as Luciana on Fear the Walking Dead to the warm reception for her short film The Cure, Garcia has been doing well and now the multi-talented actress is adding to her impressive resume after being cast in an upcoming feature film.

According to her publicist, Garcia has been cast in Dead End as “Minny”, a getaway driver working to help her partner to escape a Los Angeles neighborhood in police lockdown. Not only is it incredibly dangerous work, but Minny is pregnant and her pregnancy raises the stakes even higher.

Dead End also stars Michael Drayer, Travis Hammer and Taja V. Simpson, with a script from Mikhail Bassilli and MJ Palo and directors Bassilli and Luc Walpoth. The movie is set to begin shooting in Los Angeles in mid-September.

Garcia’s short film The Cure (La cura) opened the Baja California International Film Festival in June, and most recently it was featured at the Shorts Mexico Film Festival in Mexico City in early September. The film focuses on a small Mexican village struck down by a terrifying and mysterious disease. The local priest has to reconcile matters of faith when it comes to seeking out a cure for his people, but it could come at a terrible cost. The film was written and co-directed by Garcia, and it was produced by her production company This Is Happening.

Luciana has been the heart and soul of Fear the Walking Dead since the show’s second season when Nick Clark arrived at La Colonia. Since crash landing in the middle Texas in season 5, it was Luciana who helped young Dylan see that they were trying to help. Now she’s working to keep Tank Town running under the threat of Logan and his henchmen.
