The Walking Dead: Daryl and Carol at the heart of Season 10

The Walking Dead fan favorites Carol and Daryl are the last two characters from the original Atlanta group, and they will be at the heart of season 10.

Carol Peletier, portrayed by Melissa McBride, and Daryl Dixon, portrayed by Norman Reedus, have been friends for a long time. They are the last two left from the original Atlanta group and continue to share a special bond.  Season 10 of The Walking Dead starts in one month and show-runner Angela Kang has told TVLine:

"There’s an emotional core between the two of them that helps us understand the human toll of this story."

Carol and Daryl are in very vulnerable positions as we enter season 10. Carol has been through so much in her life but recently she has had to deal with the death of another child, her son, Henry, and also her separation from husband, King Ezekiel. Daryl is still mourning the loss of his best friend Rick. And, they both have been affected by so many in their group being killed by The Whisperers in season 9.

Kang has stated that we will see a lot of Carol and Daryl scenes in season 10. The war with the Whisperers could throw these two together as they are both at a place where they are ready to fight and defend what is theirs. The history these two share makes them ideal to come together and fight for what they have been trying to preserve for so long.

Could a romance finally blossom between Carol and Daryl? I personally feel they aren’t ever going to be in that type of a relationship. I feel their bond is one of mutual affection but not in a sexual or romantic way. They have both lived through hell even before the world went crazy. Dealing with all they had to before prepared them to be survivors in this new world. They were both abused, Carol by her husband Ed and Daryl by his father and brother. But, on the other side of that they both learned to care for others, to protect others, and this bond is stronger than any romance could ever touch.

I am exited to see what happens next for Carol, Daryl and all the rest during the battle with the Whisperers. The Walking Dead Season 10 premieres October 6th on AMC.
