The Walking Dead lands 5 People’s Choice Award 2019 nominations
After a thrilling ninth season that breathed new life into AMC’s original zombie series, The Walking Dead lands multiple People’s Choice nominations.
The Walking Dead has been nominated for four People’s Choice Awards after season 9 gave the show a new lease on life. The nomination announcements came on Monday afternoon from E! Online, home of the People’s Choice Awards. The show will air on November 10 on E!, and fans can vote for their favorite stars and shows on the E! website.
The Walking Dead came away with five nominations at the 2019 awards event: The Show of 2019, The Drama Show of 2019, The Female TV Star of 2019, The Male TV Star of 2019 and The Drama TV Star of 2019.
Leading off the award categories, The Walking Dead will face off against the following shows for The Show of 2019: Game of Thrones, Grey’s Anatomy, Riverdale, Stranger Things, The Big Bang Theory, This Is Us and WWE Raw.
The Drama Show of 2019 is an absolutely stacked category. The Walking Dead will be facing competition from seven other shows including Big Little Lies, Chicago P.D., Game of Thrones, Grey’s Anatomy, Riverdale, Stranger Things and This Is Us.
After her stunning performance in season 9, it’s no surprise that Danai Gurira is in The Female TV Star of 2019 category. She’s nominated along with seven other women, including Camila Mendes (Riverdale), Lili Reinhart (Riverdale), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Mandy Moore (This Is Us), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies) and Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones).
Norman Reedus is The Walking Dead’s entry for The Male TV Star of 2019. He’ll be up against seven other actors who are without a doubt at the top of their game: Cole Sprouse (Riverdale), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), KJ Apa (Riverdale), Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us) and Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us).
Reedus has also been nominated as The Drama TV Actor of 2019 and will face off against Lili Reinhart (Riverdale), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies), Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones), Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us) and Zendaya (Euphoria).
This isn’t the first time The Walking Dead has been nominated for People’s Choice Awards but it does mark the first time that the show has landed award nominations in the post-Rick Grimes era. Andrew Lincoln has long been overlooked for an Emmy nomination for his performance, but now there’s hope that Lincoln might land a nomination for the Rick Grimes movie instead.
