Glenn

Of course this list was going to start with Glenn – who else could it be?

Given that the fan-favorite character was on the show for six full seasons, it is expected that he would have done a lot of selfish, immoral things. That was never really the case for Glenn, though, as he always played a role as the moral compass of the survivors. When characters like Rick or Daryl would take dark turns throughout the story, Glenn always remained steadfast in his efforts to do the right thing.

Nothing epitomizes Glenn’s humanity and selflessness more than his relationship with Nicholas. Glenn and Nicholas struggled to get along throughout their time in the show, be it because Nicholas selfishly got Noah killed or the fact that he nearly killed Glenn himself. Even though Glenn came moments away from killing the Alexandrian, he couldn’t bring himself to pull the trigger, sparing the life of a man who did wrong by Glenn many times.

Glenn’s selflessness was rewarded, as Nicholas wound up saving Glenn’s life when the two were trapped by walkers with seemingly no escape. Before he ended his own life, Nicholas thanked Glenn for giving him another chance to be a better person and atone for his past.

In a show where people are quick to look for vengeance towards anybody who wrongs them, Glenn’s hopeful outlook and willingness to give people a chance was a refreshing reminder that not all humanity is lost, even when the world ends.
