First episode of Tom Payne’s The Prodigal Son available now through 9/15
The first episode of the new Tom Payne drama The Prodigal Son is available to watch this weekend only, September 13-15.
The Walking Dead’s Tom Payne is back on television with a thrilling new show this fall. The Prodigal Son features Payne’s character trying to fight crime while his father, a murderous sociopath, tries to bond with his son. FOX has made the series premiere available to fans two weeks early, but it’s only available through September 15.
As Jesus, Payne spent his time on The Walking Dead moving between the communities, keeping an eye on things and helping to keep the peace. He was beloved by all, and he was the reluctant leader of the Hilltop until Alpha swooped in and killed him in the season 9 mid-season finale. It was a devastating blow to the show and to fans, but now Payne is back in role that is perfectly for the talented actor.
The show also stars Lou Diamond Phillips, the iconic actor who went from avid TWD fan to a card-carrying member of the TWD Family after directing an episode of Fear the Walking Dead back in season 4.
The premise behind The Prodigal Son is fascinating, and we’re on board with anything that features Tom Payne and Michael Sheen. Here’s the synopsis from FOX:
"MALCOLM BRIGHT (Tom Payne, “The Walking Dead”) has a gift. He knows how killers think and how their minds work. Why? Back in the 1990s, his father was one of the worst, a notorious serial killer called “The Surgeon.” So it makes sense Bright is the best criminal psychologist around; murder is the family business. He will use his twisted genius to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers, all while dealing with a manipulative mother, annoyingly normal sister, a homicidal father still looking to bond with his prodigal son, and his own constantly evolving neuroses."

Remember, the link will only be valid through Sunday, September 15, and based on comments made on social media, the link will not work outside of the United States.
Payne did a lot of training to become Jesus, but his physical talents were never showcased on The Walking Dead. From the look of things, fans might get to see him use those skills in The Prodigal Son and we’re here for it.
Be sure to tune into the series premiere of The Prodigal Son on Monday, September 23 on FOX.
