The Walking Dead had a strong showing at the 2019 Saturn Awards, taking home Best Horror as members of the cast were also honored.

It was a big night for The Walking Dead as AMC’s juggernaut zombie drama came home with several wins at the 2019 Saturn Awards. Now in their 45th year, the Saturn Awards are a venerated celebration of sci-fi, fantasy and horror and after nine seasons The Walking Dead proves there’s plenty of life in this show about the undead.

The Walking Dead took home the award for Best Horror Television Series, beating out shows like American Horror Story: Apocalypse and Supernatural. Showrunner Angela Kang, Greg Nicotero, Scott M. Gimple and Khary Payton were on hand to accept the award.

Also winning big at the awards ceremony was Danai Gurira, who beat out fellow TWD star Melissa McBride for Best Supporting Actress on a Television Series. Gurira’s win is noteworthy because she managed to beat three actresses from Game of Thrones. Gurira’s costar Jeffrey Dean Morgan won Best Guest Starring Performance on a TV Series for his role as Negan. Morgan wasn’t able to be there live and in person, but he did tape a message in advance for the audience.

Elsewhere at the Saturn Awards, The Walking Dead alum Sonequa Martin-Green took home the award for Best Actress in a Streaming Presentation for her role as Michael Burnham in Star Trek: Discovery.

Other members of The Walking Dead Universe on hand at the Saturn Awards included Tonya Pinkins and Sydney Lemmon, both of whom received nominations for their appearances on Fear the Walking Dead.

Next up for The Walking Dead are the People’s Choice Awards in November. The show received five nominations, including The Drama of 2019 and The Show of 2019. Danai Gurira was nominated for The Female TV Star of 2019 while Norman Reedus received two nominations, one for The Male TV Star of 2019 and The Drama Actor of 2019.
