Talking Dead will be back for The Walking Dead season 10, but the show will be taped for the season premiere and will not air live.

Many members of The Walking Dead Family have come to see Talking Dead as one of the most important elements of the fandom, with host Chris Hardwick helping to get fans through some of the hardest moments to watch. Talking Dead usually airs live (on the East Coast) after The Walking Dead airs on Sunday nights, but it will be taped for the season 10 premiere on October 6.

Talking Dead is at its best when it immediately follows The Walking Dead on Sunday nights. It can be hard for some folks to wait an hour for other shows to air in between The Walking Dead and Talking Dead, and it’s fun seeing the show live when fans can call in with questions and have their social media responses shared on live TV.

The season 10 premiere of Talking Dead will be filmed on September 23, along with the season finale episode of Talking Dead for Fear the Walking Dead. Chris Hardwick and the popular aftershow have been noticeably absent from Fear the Walking Dead Sundays this summer, save for the major episodes like the season premiere, the mid-season finale, the mid-season premiere and now the season finale, however none of those episodes were filmed live.

According to the 1iota website where fans can reserve free tickets to the show, subsequent episodes of Talking Dead will return to being filmed live after the premiere, and this is welcome news.

It’s very likely that the season premiere episode of Talking Dead is being taped because the season premiere on October 6 lines up with the weekend of New York Comic Con and the cast might not be available to fly back to Los Angeles to tape the show live. (Though it would be awesome to have an episode taped live from NYCC!)

The tickets for the next few tapings are already on waitlist status, but fans should definitely still reserve a spot on the list because spots do become available quite frequently, and seeing the show taped live is a treat for fans of both shows. There’s so much energy in the room and it’s nice being surrounded by people who love the show as much as you do.
