Alpha is a living nightmare in The Walking Dead season 10

The Walking Dead survivors will have to change their tactics and bring their best battle skills if they have any hope of defeating Alpha.

Alpha is a villain unlike any other the communities have faced.  She’s not a leader that is looking for a home for her people, like the Governor. And she’s not interested in gathering supplies and “saving” people like Negan.

Alpha embraces the death and chaos the walkers bring to the world. She believes it’s the next step in human evolution and that she and her followers are more evolved than the people who are still trying to hang onto their humanity and set up communities.

According to the character biographies released by AMC:

"“[Alpha] is playing the long game for keeps. Her reign of terror is calculated. Worst of all, she has the patience to see it through to the end, and the horde to back it up. You cannot question or escape what she is going to do. She believes primal instincts are the only way of survival and must prove the communities’ humanity of the past has no use in this world. She is calm and steady, as a leader should be, to keep her flock in line.”"

For the community survivors that means that the fight against Alpha isn’t just a fight for their physical survival. It’s a fight to keep their way of life, and their humanity. The Whisperer War that is coming in The Walking Dead season 10 isn’t just another round of battling for supplies, or for a safe haven, or for autonomy. It’s a battle between life and death and the fate of the post apocalypse world hangs in the balance.

Alpha is a True Believer of the Whisperer mythology that dead, or the Guardians as they call them, are something that should be revered not something they should be scared of. And with her followers moving among the dead and directing them she has a massive undead army that she can use to destroy the communities if she chooses.

Alpha In The Walking Dead Season 10

Alpha is the most interesting villain that has appeared so far in The Walking Dead. Her interactions with the survivors in season 9 were nightmare worthy, especially her chillingly polite conversation with King Ezekiel when she snuck into the fair.

She’s ruthless, cunning, cruel, and highly intelligent. Only a tiny bit of Alpha’s power, strength, and cruelty were revealed in season 9. In season 10 it looks like fans will get to see a lot more about Alpha’s true nature, and the extent of her power.

Showrunner Angela Kang has said repeatedly that there will many flashbacks used in season 10 and that more of the Whisperers story will be show. Fans will hopefully get to see how Alpha became the cult figure that she is and what would possibly make a person decide to put on a mask made from human skin and follow her all over the place walking among the dead.
