Fear The Walking Dead, Today And Tomorrow: Things To Note
By Liam O'Leary
7) According to Tom, Paradise Ridge (Is it The Pioneers’ home base?) houses a few dozen people, meaning the population there ranges somewhere between 36 and 60 people, approximately.
8) From what Tom said, he became the de facto leader of Paradise Ridge during the outbreak by simple matter of being the Home Owner’s Association president and, apparently, seen as some sort of authority figure in light of that.
9) While recounting his backstory to Morgan and Al, Tom explains that The Pioneers seemed to make him the scapegoat for all of the problems Paradise Ridge was suffering upon their arrival. Did they deem him “nonessential” like they did to Logan?
10) Additionally, Tom’s story reveals that The Pioneers were not borne out of the original residents of Paradise Ridge, but a separate group who came there and took over. This sounds similar to the way Gordon described The Sanctuary, pre-Saviors, to Dwight in The Walking Dead Season Seven episode, “The Cell”.
11) The reason Al asks Tom to repeat (Presumably) Ginny’s spiel about things not being “…about today, but tomorrow” is because it reminds her of Isabelle’s mantra from CRM (a.k.a. The Helicopter Group) which Al learned in this season’s fifth episode, “The End Of Everything”.
12) This episode gets its name from Al asking Tom about The Pioneers’ mantra: “Back up. Walk me through this. When they talked about Today And Tomorrow…“.
13) Is Janice, Tom’s sister, the girl Wes saved from the walkers at The Feedbag in the previous episode, “Leave What You Don’t”? If so, this makes the fact that The Pioneers didn’t try to catch up with her that much more confusing. Again, I doubt that they didn’t hear her over the radio…
