Father Gabriel faces more tests in season 10 of The Walking Dead

Father Gabriel has been through a lot on The Walking Dead but season 10 will present some more tests and challenges for the daddy to be.

There have been some heartbreaking situations for Father Gabriel since his debut on The Walking Dead. Listening to his entire congregation be devoured by the undead while he sat inside the church changed his life forever, his eyesight was lost after slathering himself in walker guts, and other events have changed him over the years.

Season 10 of the hit AMC zombie survival drama series is right around the corner and things still aren’t easy for Gabriel. He lost several friends when the Whisperers created their border wall of human heads and is still deep in a relationship with Rosita that is more complicated than it is romantic.

Thankfully, AMC has released some character bios for season 10 to give fans some idea of what is coming for many of the major characters on the show. Included among them was one for Father Gabriel,

Here is what it says:

"“Gabriel is in a position of power he has not been in since the world and his parish fell. He trusts himself and the communities trust him. He believes in the charter and he holds great hope for the future of the joined communities. He is in a relationship with Rosita and is navigating the parental waters with Siddiq and Eugene. As Alpha tightens her hold, Gabriel’s compassion is tested and his moral compass challenged.”"

Gabriel has taken on an important role in Alexandria by taking a prominent role on the council and challenging Michonne’s authority on several occasions. The people of the community listen to him and respect his opinions, meaning he could continue to take on even more big roles in the future.

That also means he may need to delegate duties if war breaks out against the Whisperers. He can go from an outcast who ratted out Rick Grimes to Deanna in Alexandria to standing on the front lines defending those he snitched on in the past.

If there is anyone out there who can test Gabriel the most, it is Alpha. Able to manipulate anyone using intimidation and acts of violence to make anyone do as she wishes, the leader of the Whisperers can test anyone and force others to go far outside their comfort zone. Odds are that Gabriel will be put in one of those situations.

Of course, we also have to talk about Gabriel’s relationship. Rosita is his significant other yet she is about to give birth to Siddiq’s child while Eugene is pining for her. Dealing with all of this won’t be easy, but season 9 made it look as though he will continue to pursue his relationship with her. Hopefully that “love quadrangle” won’t be too much of a distraction when chaos strikes Alexandria.

Father Gabriel will be tested in his relationships, with his friendships, within the community, and especially by Alpha and the Whisperers when season 10 of The Walking Dead returns and fans can watch how he deals with these situations in October.
