Unexpected Events

Daniel and Strand set up a watch in the trees. Strand doesn’t like the idea of giving up the SWAT van to Virginia’s people but Daniel isn’t worried at all – he took the vehicle’s starter out. Strand is impressed, but he’s still not convinced that this plan is worth it. Maybe, he says, they are making the idea of joining up with Virginia worse than it really is. Daniel reminds him that she took away their choice and that’s what matters.

The herd is in the field and John uses his techniques to keep them in line. A few get too close to June and he shoots one. John asks June about her favorite color. It’s green. Grace tells Morgan that “next time” she wants to ride the horse by herself.

Virginia’s caravan approaches and Strand signals everyone. John starts giving orders to get the walkers turned around, but Dwight’s horse isn’t being obedient.

Virginia is very happy to see the SWAT van, but when Luciana gets out Daniel knows they have to call off their plan. They signal Dwight and tell him to call it off because of Luciana. They start losing control of the herd and Dwight’s horse is overcome. He hurts his leg when he falls off and he wants them to go on without him. He tells them that he knows what it’s like to live under the rule of someone who doesn’t believe in what they’re doing. Meanwhile, Strand grabs the starter and runs off the try to talk some reason into Virginia.

Morgan jumps off the horse and goes after Dwight while everyone else starts to lead the walkers to the river. When Morgan catches up with him, they try to fight the stray walkers off. Soon John and the rest of the group ride up to help save the day. John tells them to hide while they lead the walkers in to the river, where the currents will carry them away.

Dwight knows that they can’t fight Virginia without the walkers, but Morgan will be happy to know they’re all still alive.

When they get back to the Gulch, Al reveals that the people who lived at the Gulch and they fought back. Some of her people died in the fight, but this is a prime example of what happens when people go against her. And if they fight back, they could die, too.

Alicia tells everyone that they have to fight for what they have, and Morgan says that it’s about staying alive. They were helping people, and now they have to stay alive. Dwight wants to know if they are just going to allow her to separate them. “So that’s ballgame, then?” Sarah asks.

Morgan has an idea, though. They have some time left. And it’s time to live life.
