Corey Hawkins stars with Ryan Reynolds in 6 Underground

Corey Hawkins, who played Heath on The Walking Dead has joined Ryan Reynolds in a Michael Bay film, 6 Underground.

Set to release on Netflix on December 13th, 6 Underground stars Ryan Reynolds and The Walking Dead alum Corey Hawkins. This is a Michael Bay film and true to form there is lots of action and explosions.

So where has Corey Hawkins been since he played Heath on The Walking Dead? He has been busy. We last saw him as Heath in Season 7 of The Walking Dead. Showrunner Angela Kang has stated that Heath’s disappearance is easily explained.

"Anne’s junkyard escape vehicle was the very same RV Heath was last seen driving before mysteriously disappearing on season seven, episode six. INSIDER asked showrunner Angela Kang whether or not Heath was also taken by the helicopter which whisked Rick away and if Anne traded him to them for supplies.“That was kind of the intention that we had in the back of our heads this whole time,” Kang told INSIDER of whether or not Anne traded Heath to the helicopter people. “Even back in that season where you know we had to write the wonderful Corey Hawkins out because he had huge opportunities in the feature film world… those seeds were already set there.”"

Since then Hawkins has also worked on Kong:  Skull Island, 24: Legacy, BlacKKKlansman, and Georgetown.  And, now 6 Underground. 

The synopsis for 6 Underground is, six individuals fake their own deaths to form an elite vigilante squad in order to fight evil by taking down notorious criminals. Reynolds is the leader who has found people all over the globe that are the best at what they do.

Reynolds plays a billionaire who has ghosted himself, basically wiping his existence off the map. He is joined by an elite group, Ben Hardy (Xmen: Apocalypse and Bohemian Rhapsody), a parkour expert who deftly scales buildings and any other thing he comes into contact with, Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead and Straight Outta Compton), a former Delta Force sniper, Dave Franco (The Disaster Artist and Now You See Me), a driver who is a master at the art of escape, Melanie Laurent (Inglorius Basterds’ and  Now You See Me), a CIA dark operative, Adria Arjona (Good Omens’ and Pacific Rim: Uprising), a doctor who is no stranger to combat type conditions and Manuel Garcia Rulfo, (Widows and Goliath) ,a hit man with a conscience.

This looks to be an ‘old school’ Michael Bay movie with lots of action and explosions that we expect to see from him.

As for Heath, I would love to see him back on the show for at least an episode so we can see how things have gone for him since he left us. Perhaps that can happen in one of the movies? Since he seems to be with the same group Rick is, it’s a possibility.
