Our favorite moments from The Walking Dead season 7

The Communities Fight As One
Season 7, Episode 16, “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life”
Jeffrey says:
This finale has a ton going on all at once. Between the battle at Alexandria and the death of Sasha, everything that happens is a whirlwind. When all is said and done, and the Saviors retreat, we get a powerful moment from Maggie as we assess the journey so far while looking to the future.
A voice over speech from Maggie to Rick tells the tale of how our survivors made it to this point in the apocalypse. It was the selfless act of Glenn saving Rick in the tank in downtown Atlanta all those years ago that put in motion something greater than anyone knew at the time. It was Glenn and Rick that brought all of these people together. Glenn saving Rick had a monumental ripple effect that will continue until the very end of the story.
While Maggie is speaking, we see final shots of our characters as the story concludes for the season. Jesus and Maggie find walker Sasha and tearfully put her down. Members of Alexandria, the Hilltop, and the Kingdom interact with one another and have their first real moment of unification. Maggie, Rick, and King Ezekiel stand before their people to rally them for the war to come.
Simply put, this is one of the most beautiful conclusions to a season in the whole series. In many ways, it almost feels like a last page to the overall story and could have honestly been the series finale if it needed to be. Maggie’s narration encompasses precisely what this whole story is about. It’s about people and sacrifice. The throwback shot of Sasha and Maggie sitting together, as well as the closeup on Hershel’s pocket watch is more than enough spark instant tears.
