Zombody Save Me is a New Zealand reality show with zombies

New Zealand is taking the zombie craze to new heights with an amazing reality show entitled Zombody Save Me.
Do you think you are tough? Do you think you can survive the zombie apocalypse? Well, New Zealand is going to put you to the test. They have a new reality show called Zombody Save Me. It is set up similar to the Survivor series. You agree to spend 5 nights in a forest trying to avoid the zombies roaming around.
The interest in this show has shocked producer Charlotte Purdy.
"“It was amazing,” says Purdy, who produces the local reality show Zombody Save Me. “We put it out on the TVNZ On-Demand Facebook page and we had 290 people just from that alone and that was more than enough for what we needed to do.”"
The show debuted online and was so popular that it was grabbed up by TVNZ. It is described as The Walking Dead meets Survivor. Contestants have to pass physical and physiological evaluations as well as background checks before they can be accepted. One guy wanted to be on the show so badly that he was willing to endure more testing after his heart condition didn’t allow his doctor to give him the go-ahead to participate.
Contestants must spend five days and five terrifying nights in Auckland’s Riverhead Forest while competing in challenges against the other contestants all the while trying to avoid the zombies that roam all over the forest. And, these zombies are the best. They stay in character throughout the filming. Even when filming has stopped they still roam around even scaring the crew members.
Each day one contestant gets voted out but still has to run through the forest, at night, to safety. Host Laura Daniel is tough but fair. Although she does refrain from humiliating the contestants like other reality shows tend to do. Purdy went on to say:
"“I hate those shows that do that,” Purdy says. “I really don’t like humiliating people and that might seem crazy when you look at the zombie show but it’s different.“Humiliating people and giving them a bit of a fright when they’ve signed up for that is different. I love the fact that the contestants were fully engaged in that and, when on the journey, they all believed it. It was good.”"
Zombody Save Me is available on-demand from TVNZ. It has gathered international appeal and with its low budget of $500,000, for the series, perhaps other countries will start something like this as well.
