As The Walking Dead season 10 gets closer our panelists are taking a look back at their favorite moments from season 8.

Season 8 of The Walking Dead brought All Out War to a close once and for all, with Rick and the survivor winning the long war. It was a struggle until the very end, when Rick managed to cut Negan’s throat. That should have ended it, but Rick had Siddiq stich up Negan’s wound. Rick saved Negan’s life and imprisoned him in Alexandria to honor Carl’s wish that they build a better world. But, not everyone agreed with Rick’s decision.

All Out War was tough on all of the communities and they all lost a large chunk of their residents. King Ezekiel lost Shiva, Gabriel went blind in one eye, and there were a lot of physical and mental battle wounds. But the biggest casualty of season 8 wasn’t lost in the war.

Carl was bitten by a walker while helping Siddiq and died by his own hand as the fever became worse. Carl’s death was meant to drive the narrative forward and to be the inspiration for Rick to find his humanity again and spare Negan’s life and the lives of the Saviors. However, it was a controversial death and many fans were not happy about it.

In season 8 not all of our panelists favorite moments were happy ones, but there were some moments mixed in with the sorrow and weariness of All Out War. These are the moments that our panelists thought were the best of The Walking Dead season 8:
