Shiva Saves Ezekiel

Season 8 Episode 4, “Some Guy”

Sara L. says:

I can handle extreme horror and not bat an eye, watch the scariest of movies and laugh. I can watch some of the extreme brutality on The Walking Dead, rewatch it, and honestly, it doesn’t affect me. However this episode, no way I can watch this episode again. I am a die-hard Kingdom fan, I adore my King, and Shiva has my whole heart. This episode is so incredibly hard for me to watch for a variety of reasons.

I was a sobbing mess from the beginning of this episode to the end. Typically episodes of most shows work up to bad things that happen, this episode starts with 34 people dying. After seeing so many of King Ezekiel’s people become walkers, finally calming myself, I figured the worst was behind me. I was wrong in the worst kind of way. King Ezekiel has a near brush with death to be saved by Jerry. However, you can tell, with everything he just witnessed his spirit is crushed.

Khary Payton is so talented, while the death of Shiva just had me sobbing, as I love animals and her so much, his performance sold this. We see him drop his King persona, admitting he is just some guy, and I recall seeing the look in his eyes. This is a fictional show that I’m watching on television but their performances put me there with them at that moment. It was like I was there and I just witnessed the fall of my King and tiger.

The fact King Ezekiel was able to come back from this means a lot to me. Seeing the fair and all the tributes to Shiva just makes my heart so happy. While the death of Shiva was so hard, she did go out protecting the person she loved the most in this world. While I would take this death back in a heartbeat, it also does make me happy that she did go out as the truly noble queen she was.
