Paola Lázaro cast as Princess in The Walking Dead
By Sara Large
Paola Lázaro has been cast as Princess in The Walking Dead! As a quickly loved fan-favorite in the comic series, what does this casting mean for the television series?
Paola Lázaro shared a tweet from the official The Walking Dead account today announcing her arrival into the series, amping up the excitement of this news even more! When this character first entered the comic series, she was so unique and special fans immediately took to social media with chatter about her and all her electrifying details.
Speculation on who would play her in the TV series happened instantly. Needless to say this news today had comic and Princess fans over the moon!
Princess is a character who is unforgettable for many reasons. Her appearance makes her one of a kind, and so does her attitude! She sports a fluffy pink coat and purple hair because “there is more hair dye than people so why not?”
She has one of the most iconic and memorable entrances in The Walking Dead comic. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind, she has no filter, and she will stand up for what is right.
Paola Lázaro is known for her roles in Lethal Weapon, SMILF and Pimp as well as being a playwright. However, there is something else that I would like to focus on. Lazaro was born in Puerto Rico and she is proud LatinX wanting to help empower other Latinx people. She is also a big advocate for Mental Health Awareness. This interview with with her is very inspiring!
Princess is an extremely bold person, and while she is just a fictional character when I listen to her speak in the above interview, I see Princess. Princess opens up in the comic about her past and without including any comic spoilers, she had to come a long way to end up with a positive attitude now. However, she still deals with many things from her past. Lazaro could put so much authentic emotion into those scenes.
In my personal opinion, I believe this is perfect casting. While I do have some reservations about Princess making her appearance as she is a larger than life character and nothing less than everything will do. I am still extremely excited for this iconic comic character to be brought to my tv screen!
