Gregory

That guy.

Seriously, Gregory started off my list of “Who’s The Worst?” last season, owing to his willingness to cut and run on Father Gabriel after the former saved him from the walkers at The Sanctuary, then, for deciding to abandon Henry with a walker so he could run back to The Sanctuary to suck up a champion scumbag, Simon, and for, generally, being the biggest coward The Walking Dead had ever seen.

Well, in Season 9, he managed to outdo himself in every way possible.

In this season, he not only managed to exceed himself in cowardice, but also, in underhanded, backstabbing (Almost literally), cold-blooded megalomania.

Truly, worthy of applause. I don’t think I’ve seen a Walking Dead character actually manage to get soooo much worse from one season to the next, but, Gregory managed it.

What did he do? Well, after losing an election, Gregory got Earl drunk (An addiction he’d fought hard to alleviate himself from, I might add), and then convinced him that Maggie was responsible for his son’s death (Which only happened earlier that day, I might add), so that Earl would attempt to kill Maggie, and, had he succeeded, taken the blame for it, while Gregory likely swooped in to reclaim leadership of Hilltop. Despicable.

Honestly, there is no other word for it. Gregory used his knowledge of a man who’d been part of his community for years before Maggie even arrived, preyed on his addiction and his grief, just so he could use him to do his dirty work (And probably let him get executed!) just so he could regain political power.

If it weren’t for a certain person we’ll see a little later, Gregory would be a lock for most irredeemable in Season 9, but, as it stands, he has competition.
