Watch the trailer for the new The Walking Dead spinoff

The Walking Dead’s latest spinoff trailer dropped at NYCC and it definitely is a whole new world within The Walking Dead universe.

There has been a lot of speculation about the latest The Walking Dead spinoff, which is still untitled. Right now the show is being referred to as TWD3. It may not have a title yet, but it does have a full trailer that dropped today at The Walking Dead/TWD3 panel at NYCC.

This spinoff is different from both of the existing shows set in The Walking Dead universe. It is set about ten year after the apocalypse and the main characters have always lived in a very large and secure community. Their lives have been relatively safe, and similar to what kids before the apocalypse would have experienced.

The main characters head out into the world beyond their safe city walls and see what the world is like for the first time. The undead, which have different names in each of the shows, are called “empties” in this spinoff.

With a younger cast and fresh perspective on the world after the fall of civilization this new spinoff will give fans of The Walking Dead universe an in-depth look at another corner of the universe and another aspect of the fight for survival. Fans have seen what it was like for individuals to fight to survive and build small communities, but they’ve never gotten a look at what the larger world looked like. TWD3 will introduce fans to that larger world.

It’s a little odd that they still haven’t released a title for the new show, which is already filming and is set to air in the spring of 2020. But the show is moving forward and judging by the trailer it’s going to be a great addition to The Walking Dead universe.

It was announced at NYCC that The Walking Dead was renewed for season 11, and it’s already been announced that Fear The Walking Dead is returning for season 6 so with the addition of TWD3 fans can be fully immersed in the ever expanding world of the apocalypse while waiting for the feature films featuring Rick Grimes.
