Season 9 changed The Walking Dead forever in more ways than one. Our panelists look back at their favorite moments from TWD season 9.

Season 9 of The Walking Dead was a season of losses that still managed to set an exciting new course for the ongoing saga of the survivors. The biggest loss, of course, was Rick Grimes. It seemed inconceivable that the show could continue without the iconic Rick Grimes, and yet Rick’s exit set up an exciting new story and allowed some of the other characters to finally grow and expand.

Rick’s exit was about as perfect as it could be. A seriously injured Rick hallucinated his way back through all the pivotal moments and places that made up his apocalypse journey so far. There were some wonderful cameo appearances in Rick’s last episode, including a tear inducing moment between Rick and Hershel that would be Scott Wilson’s final performance in TWD. He passed away last year, just one day before The Walking Dead season 9 premiere.

Season 9 also brought the arrival of the Whisperers. Jesus was the first casualty of the Whisperers, but not the last. Alpha and the Whisperers made a terrible border marker that shocked the communities and left them reeling. But Alpha has no idea how strong the community survivors are and the depth of their loyalty to each other.

Our panelists had a lot of fun going back through the entire run of The Walking Dead and picking out their favorite moments from seasons 1-9. These were our favorite moments from TWD season 9:
