Season 9 had some amazing moments, Rick’s last episode is one huge masterpiece, filled with amazing events. However, I decided to stray away from those moments so I could celebrate, the biggest and baddest of them all. When Ryan Hurst was cast as Beta, I let out a scream. I am a fan of The Walking Dead comics and know the potential of what Beta can be, as well as a huge Ryan Hurst fan. I had said previously online that would be my dream casting so to have it brought to life was amazing.
I love villains, often more than what a person would consider a good guy, mainly because I find them more interesting. In the case of the whisperers that is truer than it’s ever been before. When Beta is introduced, Henry had just gotten the upper hand on another whisperer with his staff. Henry turns around to see a giant Beta just squatting and looking at him. He rips the staff from his hand and throws him around like it’s nothing to him.
His power alone is intimidating so combined with his terrifying mask and huge stature he is certainly a force to be reckoned with. I hope we get to see more fighting scenes with Beta, as well as some Negan and Beta banter. This was my favorite introduction to a villain ever. While Negan might have certainly made a big show on his entrance, Beta doesn’t have to do all the theatrics because he was terrifying on his own as he truly seems like an animal with no redeeming qualities.
