The Walking Dead 1002 sneak peek, preview: Pack dynamics

After a stellar season 10 premiere, the next episode of The Walking Dead takes a dark turn as we explore pack dynamics in “We Are the End of the World.”

The Walking Dead has done an amazing job of setting up the television version of Alpha and the Whisperers are being equally as terrifying in the past as they are in the present. Next week’s episode of The Walking Dead explores the Whisperers’ pack mentality and how the pack dynamics work with Alpha as the terrifying leader.

The season 10 premiere of The Walking Dead ended with Alpha and Carol locking eyes with each other across the ravine. Until that point, no one had seen the Whisperers since the time before the winter storm hit, and the survivors have been working to prepare for when they come back. After battling a forest fire across Alpha’s border, the group got back on their side as quickly as possible but Carol remained behind just long enough to have a run-in with Alpha.

The preview of next week’s “We Are the End of the World” features a look inside the pack as Alpha works to quell the unrest that has been building since her people encountered Alexandria. Alpha has already shown us that she will stop at nothing to protect the pack, so she will have to work quickly to keep any dissent at bay while they work to grow their herd.

Fans will also meet Thora Birch as Gamma in episode 1002.

In the sneak peek, Beta shaves Alpha’s head while she tells him how they need to grow the herd. The depths of Beta’s loyalty to Alpha are revealed in his unwavering support of her decisions. And when she tells him to take the sisters hunting with him, he’s quick to agree:

The Whisperers are a terrifying enemy, but there’s something even more horrific about learning what happens behind the scenes. Alpha rules with an iron fist, and there’s no question that her people follow out of fear more than supporting her way of life.
