What kind of technology do you hope Eugene can make from the satellite debris?

Having high-tech parts available for Eugene is like Christmas for the scientist. He should be able to look at the fallen satellite and be able to do something with the components, but it’s hard to know exactly what that might be or what fans think it should be.

Here is what our panel hopes can be done with this newly found treasure in future episodes of The Walking Dead!

I think most people (including myself) would assume something to do with the radio, hoping maybe he can broadcast further and help with communications. Giving this question a little more thought though I think it would be cool if he could find some items to potentially help build a new doppler system for the weather! Communications are VERY important but knowing if a large storm is heading their way could be key to survival.

Eugene has managed to surprise me over the seasons. I think Luke is right when he calls him “Eugenius” and that Eugene will come up with some nifty tech but I think the most important thing he will make is a signal booster to increase the range of the radio. I have a feeling that extended reach is going to launch our survivors into some pretty major new stories that involve Rick and the other communities that are out there.

Joe says

The technology that Eugene will be able to make from the satellite almost certainly has to do with improving and expanding the radio technology that the survivors currently use between the communities. Knowing that Maggie will possibly return in season 10, I think that it is very possible we see the radio improve enough to come into contact with Georgie’s group. It is even possible that this technology will eventually help lead to Michonne’s departure from the show, as perhaps the radio will be able to come into contact with the group that carried Rick away in a helicopter in season 9.

Jeffrey says

Eugene never ceases to amaze me when it comes to his capabilities in the apocalypse. We’ve always known he is smart and capable of doing amazing things. I have a feeling that the technology he recovers from the satellite will allow him to enhance communication.

Last season we saw him, Rosita, and Father Gabriel trying to set up a large-scale communication network and they managed to link the communities with it. Maybe this new technology will allow Eugene to reach out to other settlements far beyond the area in Virginia we are currently located. The possibilities are endless. Perhaps, Eugene could come up with a way to radio Maggie and Georgie’s group. Maybe it will allow him to accidentally get in contact with the people who have Rick, or the survivors of Fear, or possibly even the characters of the third spinoff. I’m very excited to see what new doors “Eugenius” opens for us.

Adam says

As we’ve seen in Fear the Walking Dead, space-age technology isn’t needed in order to boost the signal of a transmission. I’m hoping that these parts will help Eugene make advances in medical technology.

So far, the smarty-pants has been able to make so many things the communities need without having too much in terms of high-tech parts. Something like this opens the door for things like lasers and strong power cells. The options are limitless!
