Daryl grabs the coffee from the campfire and pours some while Michonne tries to talk to Carol, who isn’t interested in anything other than killing Alpha. She walks away. Daryl tells Michonne that she hasn’t been the same since coming back on the boat, and he thinks that she should go back on the boat. She’s not sleeping, too.

Carol is walking through the woods when she sees movement ahead of her. She fires her gun and everyone comes running. She thinks they were Whisperers. Everyone splits up to capture them.

Meanwhile, Negan and Aaron finish clearing their area for the night and Aaron tells Negan to tie himself up for the walk back. Aaron is also not pleased to see that Negan has the crobar again. Negan is trying to do the right thing, but he knows that Aaron isn’t willing to see it. Aaron trips him as he walks by, and he demands to know why he had to lose the love of his life during their battle. Negan drops some big wisdom, noting that one simple truth kept things going back when he was in charge: If you don’t protect what’s yours, someone else will come along and take it from you.

Aaron takes that message to mean that it was his fault that Eric died, and he taunts Negan about his wife hating him when she died. Negan says nothing, which means he also doesn’t stop the two walkers from approaching. Aaron fights them off while Negan watches, but when he kills them, Negan runs away.
