Michonne finds Carol and tells her that there is no sign of the people Carol saw. Michonne wants to know how long she has been taking the pills. She says she has been taking them since she got back. Daryl says they need to find somewhere to get some sleep.

They find an old school and go inside. It’s quiet, but they search it anyway. Daryl declares that it’s clear. Carol finds a book on home economics and when she looks at the cover she sees herself and all of the children she lost. Daryl agrees to take first watch, but instead of sleeping Carol takes another pill. Daryl sees it and walks away.

Aaron struggles to find Negan. He can’t see after being sprayed with walker blood. He finds his way to a house.

Daryl finds Carol sitting there, awake. He says he’s thinking about his dad, who was a trucker. He used to tell Daryl and Merle stories from the road. One time a girl walked in front of him on the freeway but she wasn’t there. There was no evidence of her being there, because there was no girl. His dad didn’t sleep either, sometimes staying up 24 hours. You see things. Carol says that she’s not a “meth-snorting truck driver” like his father. She immediately apologizes, but Daryl says he’s not wrong.

The timer goes off and she takes another pill. She says she can’t sleep, and he guesses it’s from bad dreams.

Negan watches from the shadows as Aaron struggles to fight off walkers. When he appears, he has the crobar with him and he kills the walkers. Negan smiles when he hears the desperation in Aaron’s voice. Aaron admits that he can’t see, and Negan says that the walkers had hog weed on them so that probably causes the blindness. Negan offers him some water and helps him off the ground, then he guides him to the bedroom and helps him. When Negan starts to walk away, Aaron asks where he’s going. He’s going to keep watch, and he says that they’ll leave first thing in the morning if Aaron is ok with that. He is.

Carol sits in the room before embarking on a search of the building. She findsa trail of blood and a dead woman in one room. As she walks away, she hears Henry calling for her. When she turns around, someone is there trying to stab her.

She startles and Daryl comes in, asking where she has been. She has been gone a half hour. She assures him that this isn’t like his father the truck driver, but Daryl says his dad wasn’t a truck driver. She grabs the pill bottle and sees that it still had pills in it. He tells her not to take them, but she does anyway and says she wants to stay up one more hour.

She goes out into the school again and finds a room full of broken glass. It’s a gym. She steps into a rope that strings her upside down. She has a knife but can’t reach the rope. A Whisperer approaches but Carol can’t reach her. The herd files into the gym and Carol shoots at them, but she’s not a good shot upside down. She screams for help, calling to Daryl. She manages to free herself. When the alarm goes off, she’s standing in the middle of the room amid a bunch of bodies.

Daryl and Michonne carry Carol to Siddiq’s office. Dante is there to help him, but Siddiq starts to have flashbacks and Dante tells him he’s not fine at all. Siddiq goes outside, and Dante comes out to join him, covering for him instead of letting Siddiq say that he couldn’t do it.

The next day, Aaron wakes up and Negan asks if he can see him. He can. “Good,” Negan says.
