The interesting stuff

  1. It’s peanut butter jelly time! The dancing banana with maracas isn’t exactly what this episode needed, but it’s what I thought of when I heard “peanut butter, meet jelly” come from the mouth of Father Gabriel. Maybe we could get just a short dance break between walkers kills.
  2. The illumination of night. The way the scene with the meeting at the northern border was shot was beautiful. It was that gorgeous cinematography with fearsome threats that balanced out a great scene that kept me on the edge of my seat as well as a feast for the eyes.
  3. That book though. The book with the family eating a meal on the cover got much sadder when the family was replaced by kids Carol lost along the way. Sophia, Lizzie, Mika, Henry, and Sam were a reminder of places she could feel that she failed as a parent, and the lack of sleep is bringing out all these feelings.
  4. Trucker stories. For Carol to hallucinate or dream a conversation with Daryl about his truck-driving daddy seeing a girl jump in front of the rig was interesting. It would have been great to learn something new about Daryl, but instead that turned out to be her imagination running wild.
