Overall impression

This was a really good episode of The Walking Dead. The show flew by with the highlights being the scenes shared by Carol and Alpha as well as the conflict that exists between Aaron and Negan after all these years.

Samantha Morton is absolutely captivating as Alpha. The way she talks, her mannerisms, and her messages all come across as being very strong. When you add great actors like Melissa McBride and Danai Gurira to a scene, you have a recipe for success.

Meanwhile, Negan and Aaron’s situation was nice because it talks about the past. Yes, it’s amazing that everything is happening now with the Whisperers, but there are still a lot of unresolved issues from earlier seasons that reward those who have watched over the years.

I don’t “ship” Carol and Daryl, but I love watching them interact. The two have a great respect for each other and a friendship that has grown over the years. The two actors work off each other very well, and hopefully, that’s something fans can watch develop for many more years.

Overall, I really enjoyed this episode. It took me a minute to understand the ending where it was confirmed that Carol’s fight in the gym with walkers and one of the Whisperers wasn’t in her mind and she actually did kill one of Alpha’s group.

EPISODE GRADE: 8.9/10
