Negan is on the loose and King Ezekiel has a secret in this week’s episode of The Walking Dead. In “What It Always Is” the problems continue at Hilltop after the fallen tree incident while Negan leads his admirer on an adventure.

Here’s the synopsis of The Walking Dead 1005, “What It Always Is”:

“Supplies go missing from Hilltop, Negan is idolized by an Alexandrian, and Ezekiel holds a secret.”

Ezekiel has been dealing with a lot lately. He lost his son, the Kingdom, Shiva and Carol, and now things are starting to go wrong at Hilltop. We have seen situations where supplies go missing and there’s usually a lot more to it. In this case, the problem comes with having the threat of the Whisperers looming large over the communities. Now is not the time to lose much-needed supplies.

Negan’s new friend is also a curiosity. Whether or not we learn who released him doesn’t matter so much as what he does next.

This week’s episode of The Walking Dead was directed by Laura Belsey, the same talented director who brought “The Calm Before” to life in season 9. Though there aren’t any heads on pikes in this week’s episode, “What It Always Is” still packs an emotional punch for fans.
