The Walking Dead 1005 recap: What It Always Is
They come upon the border and Brandon asks Negan if they should cross, citing “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” ideology. No, Negan says. At that moment a walker jumps out and attacks them, falling on Negan. Negan struggles to fight it off with his stick, but he uses the barbed wire on the walker’s neck to cut its head off. Then he stomps on the head.
When he turns around, he is about to unload on Brandon for not helping him, but Brandon says he was wrapping Negan’s “gift”: Lucille. He also has his leather jacket, all of which he stole from Alexandria. Negan approaches, a strange expression on his face. He’s elated, but skeptical. He tells Brandon to keep it in the backpack so they’re not recognized, but Brandon wants to know that he has pleased Negan. He has.
Aaron is back on the bridge, practicing his sword skills, when he hears a walker. He spots Gamma as she kills a walker and cuts a hole in its stomach so that the contents leak into the water. She hears Aaron so she pushes the walker into the water and goes to investigate.
Brandon and Negan watch walkers pass by and Brandon calls one a “7”, at which point he asks Negan if this is what he did with the Saviors. Negan doesn’t recall rating walkers on a scale of hotness, but he would call her a 3 if he did. While they ponder the location, Negan hears a woman screaming and runs to see who it is. The knife in his hand breaks when he plunges it into a walker’s head.
He runs into a bus, where the woman was screaming, and kills the walkers there with his hands. There’s a woman and a boy there. Brandon doesn’t help at all. “Damn, classic Negan!” he proclaims.
