In season 10 episode 5 of The Walking Dead, the MVP taught that the way someone used to be doesn’t always dictate who they will eventually become.

Sometimes, it doesn’t take a lot to be the MVP from an episode of The Walking Dead. Sometimes, all it takes is lifting the spirits of those around you or helping someone out of a tough situation. This week was a little different.

There were a lot of things going on in season 10 episode 5 titled “What it Always is” that showed several different sides of things. Several characters did things that were either unexpected or went out of their way for someone else, making this a tough episode to judge.

Even with all the great candidates, one stood out the most. After much consideration, an MVP has been named for episode 1005 of The Walking Dead on Sunday. Nov. 3.

The MVP for TWD 1005 is Negan!

So much happened in this episode that is totally worthy of being named MVP. Aaron didn’t kill Gamma. Daryl worked with Magna’s group to try to make them feel more like family. Siddiq opened up about his issues. But, in the end, nobody deserves it more than Negan.

Whoever let him out of his cell put him in an interesting position. He could go after freedom on his own to live a solitary life or he could do more to prove to the people of Alexandria that he’s not a monster and the death of Margo was truly an accident.

Negan’s new intentions were clear, despite constant probing from Brandon and reuniting with Lucille and his jacket. The young man idolized what the former leader of the Saviors has done in the past, but it is obvious that he isn’t that man anymore.

Shrugging off his former demons and focusing on helping Amelia and Miles, the charismatic individual looked like a much more compassionate man in this episode. One who wanted to bring those two survivors back to Alexandria.

Sadly, he never got that chance. In a fit of jealousy and blind adoration, Brandon massacred the family, hoping it would spark Negan back to who he used to be. Instead, it marked Brandon for death, a punishment worthy of someone killing an innocent kid and his mother in cold blood.

Brandon was a danger to not only himself but for others. But even after that altercation, Negan went out in search of the Whisperers. His intentions aren’t quite clear at this point, but if the old dog has learned new tricks, expect him to make some unexpected choices and be extremely bold with Alpha, Beta, and their followers.
