Negan’s moral code has remained unchanged from the season 10 episode of The Walking Dead “What it Always Is”. Negan still believes in saving people even with all the bad that has happened.

Negan has become a wildcard on The Walking Dead and has made critical decisions. As tensions rise with the Whisperers, having loose cannons that could get everyone killed is the last thing the communities need, and Negan took steps to ensure the communities stay standing.

The Alexandria community was suffering from indecisiveness from something that should have been a snap decision when it comes to what happened to Lydia. The indecisiveness caught Negan’s attention before the incident even took place and he knew he couldn’t sit in that cell and give any more advice.

Negan knew his fate being decided in Alexandria would be an ugly battle and he knew he couldn’t be there for anymore. The split decision with some supporting taking Negan out and others like Daryl standing up for Negan while other leaders like Aaron, Siddiq, and Gabriel being on the fence.

After he made a break from the less than friendly Alexandria zone, Negan’s biggest fan Brandon followed along with him. It has been a while since Negan had a right-hand man, and it was a change of pace for the newly freed survivor. Brandon was tempting Negan to go back to the Savior days any chance he had.

With no help from Brandon, Negan saved a mother and child from the walkers. Brandon wanted to take whatever they had and showed no regrets for feeling that way. Brandon’s obsession for approval was reaching dangerous levels and Negan took notice.

Negan made it clear that he didn’t want to do that at all, and it’s clear Negan didn’t want to go down that path again. It’s like a recovering addict fighting the temptation, but Brandon pushed Negan too far.

Brandon knew about Negan’s tactics and thought it was just a test like Negan did many times as dictator of the Saviors testing their loyalty. The obsessed fanboy of Negan killed the mother and child, and Negan knew if Brandon was let loose again, it would go from bad to worse.

The former leader of the Saviors made the mistake once of letting a man known as Simon live for too long and he killed too many people in the process. Negan decided right off the bat to not have history repeat itself for an unhinged, dangerous, remorseless man to cause harm to anyone else.

After taking out the threat of Brandon, Negan went on the ultimate saving spree of a lifetime taking out walkers with his trusted barbed wire bat. Negan’s mission was clear to take out the threat himself since all he saw was hesitation.

The saving spree was quickly interrupted by Beta setting up for the ultimate showdown. Negan embarked on a dangerous journey, but Negan was tired of sitting back in his cell while little to nothing happened.
