It was revealed that King Ezekiel is dealing with a serious medical issue in episode 1005 of The Walking Dead. Should he tell Carol about his condition?

In a world where there are human and zombie threats all around, sometimes it’s easy to forget that there are so many more factors that can go into survival. Characters on The Walking Dead are bound to get sick, and medical treatments are nearly as available as they were before the apocalypse.

Things aren’t looking good for Ezekiel. The former leader of the Kingdom has developed a bad cough and it was revealed that there is a massive lump on his neck, which he says is thyroid cancer.

Although Carol and Ezekiel are broken up, does she deserve to know about his medical condition? Or is it none of her business since they are no longer together? This question was posed to our The Walking Dead panel!

Sara L. says

I don’t think King Ezekiel or really anyone HAS to tell anyone their personal business. However, for just a normal check-up he should have seen Siddiq or another doctor in confidentiality. Without testing, Siddiq is right, it isn’t definitively cancer, it could be an abscess or cyst so just to rule those out he should be seen. If it is an infection or something that maybe could be solved, it could grow bigger in the future and become a real issue.

Joe says

While I do think that Ezekiel eventually needs to tell Carol about his medical issue, I do not fault him for not being able to tell her at that moment. Considering all that the two went through together – from losing Henry to watching the Kingdom fall – their relationship is not on the best of terms. Maybe once they spend more time apart and come to accept that just because the life they had is gone doesn’t mean their life together should be to, then Ezekiel can reveal his problem to her. For now, though, it makes sense that Ezekiel would not want to reveal his vulnerability to someone who seemingly does not care for him any longer.

Jeffrey says

I certainly believe Carol needs to find out about the medical issue at some point and I think Ezekiel needs to be the one to tell her. The two were married for years and while they may not be together anymore, their relationship is still important. I think it would be best for Ezekiel to tell Carol in person rather than over the radio. We know Carol is already having a difficult time dealing with the death of Henry, but she’s going to have to find out about this one way or another.

Adam says

This is completely Ezekiel’s choice. Not only does he have no obligation to share this information with anyone, but he has the right to treat or not treat his ailment any way he decides fit. However, I also believe the former King needs a support system around him to help him through this battle, no matter what the ailment turns out to be.

What do you think? Should Ezekiel tell Carol, a woman he clearly still has strong feelings for, that he is struggling with his health or should he keep that information away from her and other characters on The Walking Dead? Let us know your opinion in the comments!
