Now that the blood of two young Alexandrians is on the hands of Negan, how can he ever return to the community on The Walking Dead and be accepted?

Even in a zombie apocalypse like on The Walking Dead, there are rules. Accidentally killing someone is one thing, but smashing an additional person’s head in with a rock is another. And now that those two deaths are squarely on Negan, his return to Alexandria will be exceptionally difficult.

With so many survivors already not trusting him and him being so close to execution upon his exit from the community, it’s hard to imagine them welcoming him back inside the walls, even if he agreed to be locked back up indefinitely.

Negan will have to decide whether he will tell the truth about what happened with Brandon in the woods, completely lie about it, or never discuss it with anyone. But any of those answers will be tough to follow up on.

With Margo and Brandon both dying at Negan’s hands, how can he ever come clean about what he’s done? We asked our The Walking Dead panel that very question!

Sara L. says

I honestly don’t think he can come clean without getting killed. We see how everyone handled Margo’s death: not well at all. He basically had an angry mob after him. So, not only would nobody believe his story but they would likely think he killed the mom and child as well. I think right now he has chosen he does want to stay in Alexandria so he is going on a mission into the Whisperer camp to prove himself. He very clearly is not the Whisperer type…quite the opposite, in fact. So, I think he is there to cause some chaos.

Joe says

I think that Negan realizes that if he tries to come clean to the Alexandrians about what went down with Brandon, they simply would not believe him based on his past with them. I think that is part of the reason why he purposefully sought out the Whisperers: if he can take down Alpha or Beta and prove that he is on the side of the communities, then perhaps they would be willing to accept him back into the fold.

Jeffrey says

Negan is in a really tricky place right now. He accidentally killed Margo, but the people of Alexandria are under the belief that he is the same man that killed Glenn and Abraham all those years ago. If anyone finds out what he did to Brandon, it might be the final straw for him at Alexandria. That being said, the fact that he has now infiltrated the Whisperers could shake things up. If he manages to make a move that cripples the Whisperer forces, he could win back some good grace with the people of Alexandria and the killings of Margo and Brandon could potentially be looked past.

Adam says

I’m one that always preaches honesty and forgiveness. However, there is absolutely no way that Negan could knock at the gates of Alexandria, explain what happened honestly, and not be executed or imprisoned…even though what Negan did to Brandon was absolutely justified. Knowing how theatrical Negan can be, he will likely try to make a grand gesture, like the boy in a romantic comedy trying to win the heart of the girl who has been ignoring him. And now that he has met the Whisperers, he has a chance to do just that.

dark. Next. Was TWD episode 1005 good?

Do you think Negan will tell the truth about what happened in the woods with Brandon? Will he find a different way to get back in the good graces of Alexandria? Or is he fine without them? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
