5 WTF moments from The Walking Dead episode 1006
By Sara Large
1. Siddiq’s PTSD
Siddiq has been on my watch list for all of season 10. As well as indefinitely until his flashbacks are more sorted out or his mental wounds heal to a point his day-to-day life becomes a bit easier. He hasn’t been on my last couple lists but I assured he wasn’t gone forever and I even thought at some point he would top my list.
The week has come and unfortunately, Siddiq’s fragile mental state has topped my list. I have written in my previous lists about how I have enjoyed this season’s dive into mental health, I have found it to be very real and honest. We might not like certain character’s actions or things they are dealing with but we get to see how this cruel world affects everyone differently.
I want to say thank you to Avi Nash who so far has done a wonderful job with Siddiq’s character and representing how PTSD can be so crippling. While it is very hard to watch, it is nice to see it represented on tv in such an accurate and believable way.
This doesn’t just top my list because it deals with a real issue, and it being hard to watch. It tops my list because Siddiq also unknowingly put baby Coco in harm’s way, which is something he would never normally do. We have seen him be nothing but caring towards the baby and Rosita. It was so jarring to see such a great father in a position like that.
The other moments I chose involving the actions of people were deserving of a WTF, however on some level because of either their state of mind or who they are, are something somewhat predictable of actions they might make. That’s why they are at their position on the list.
Siddiq moves past them because not only all the things I mentioned but because PTSD is unpredictable. This also opens up the future for more moments involving this. Will a sickness death make him lose it totally? Will he accidentally cause a death unknowingly? These are all serious things that make me question Siddiqs safety and all those around him.
Like previous weeks involving heavy issues I want to say if you need help, reach out, you are valuable, loved and worth it.
