The Walking Dead actress Christian Serratos will be portraying Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla in a new Netflix series set to release in 2020.

Netflix has released a first look video of the new series about the life of Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla. Christian Serratos, who plays Rosita from The Walking Dead, looks amazing in the video as she is preparing for a day on set. The series is entitled Selena: The Series and is set to release in 2020.

In the first look video Serratos has mastered Selena’s iconic look with the bright red lips and long polished fingernails as well as the purple jumpsuit that is only one of Selena’s iconic outfits. The clips show Serratos reading a script, then dancing in that purple jumpsuit and then follows her as she greets fellow actors and then onto a stage to sing Como la Flor.

Selena was only 23 and at the peak of her career when she was shot and killed by Yolanda Saldívar, her friend and business associate. Her crossover posthumous album Dreaming of You debuted on the BillBoard 200 list making her the first Latin artist to accomplish this.

Serratos, also known for her parts in The Twilight Saga and Ned’s Declassified Survival Guide, is set to star in the 2 part series that will chronicle the life of Selena. The series will follow her rise to stardom and how she and her family made the choices they did to make her a star. I can’t wait to see all the outfits and how they incorporate her dynamic fashion sense that even lead to her own fashion line. With direct input from Selena’s family, the storyline is sure to follow actual events of her short-lived life.

Selena’s family is directly involved in the making of this series. Her sister Suzette Quintanilla told CNN:

"“Selena will always have a lasting place in music history and we feel great responsibility to do justice to her memory,” her sister, Suzette Quintanilla, said in a statement. “With this series, viewers will finally get the full history of Selena, our family and the impact she has had on all of our lives.”"

dark. Next. The Walking Dead theory: Carol might have released Negan

Serratos as Rosita has never had an extensive amount of screen time so I am anxious to see what she will do with this role. Be watching for a release date for Selena and don’t forget to catch Serratos in The Walking Dead, Sunday on AMC.
