Who would win in a fight on The Walking Dead: Beta or Negan?

If Negan and Beta went one-on-one in a fight in an upcoming episode of The Walking Dead, which character do you think would come out on top?

Two of the most intimidating characters of all time on The Walking Dead finally met face-to-face when Negan, the former leader of the Saviors, came into contact with Beta, Alpha’s right-hand man with the Whisperers.

The two didn’t seem to care for each other so much during their time together. Their polarizing personalities made the interaction both awkward and funny, but it’s hard to imagine these two not clashing at some point in the future.

But what would happen if the two actually faced off against each other in the one on one fight with no help from anyone on the outside? We asked our panel of The Walking Dead experts for their thoughts.

Sara L. says

Beta – hands down. I don’t think anyone at all is a match for him if we are talking a one on one fair fight. Possibly Tyreese but only with the frame of mind that beat a horde to death with a single hammer Tyreese. Negan in hand to hand combat I do not think stands a chance in any universe. Negan is also the type that even if he would get the upper hand would talk too much about how great he is and then lose the upper hand.

Joe says

There’s no way that Negan would beat Beta in a one-on-one fight. A lot of Negan’s power over people is psychological, not necessarily physical – he’s able to convince people that they need him in charge to survive even though they likely could hold their own against him. Beta, on the other hand, controls others by sheer brute force. The man is a giant, and could dominate basically anybody on the show in a one-on-one battle.

Renee says

I am going to say Beta. Not to mention the fact that he is HUGE and powerful but he also doesn’t seem to have any feelings or remorse for anything. Now a pre-jail sentence Negan could have perhaps held his own but not this new Negan who has been somewhat softened by his relationship with Judith. I think it would be a good fight but in the end, Beta would operate like a robot with no emotions and only programmed to do one thing…get rid of Negan.

I hate to be the contrarian, but I think Negan has a good shot of winning this fight. Sure, Beta is bigger and stronger, but Negan has some advantages as well. Nobody has gotten in Beta’s head the way that the former leader of the Saviors can. If he can enrage Beta, he can use his environment to his advantage and get a win. We’ve seen Negan be very resourceful in the past, and I think that he can overcome the power and size of his opponent.
