A sickness is spreading throughout Alexandria on The Walking Dead and with their people ill, how could they protect themselves against the Whisperers?

Alexandria is in major trouble on The Walking Dead. Their leader and a few others are gone to check on Oceanside while other residents in the community are struggling with an illness that has left them bedridden.

If their community were to be attacked right now, they would likely fall. They have too few people to defend the community and their walls would only help them for a short time. But that raises a big question.

What ways could Alexandria defend itself against an attack considering what they have? And what are the biggest threats right now? We posed that question to our panel of The Walking Dead experts.

Sara L. says

I’ll be honest. I have no idea. We have so many people sick. We have most of the others paranoid about everything that happens. We also have Eugene at Kingtop, Michonne, and Judith at Oceanside. Carol and Daryl kidnapped an enemy, so if the Whisperers find out, who knows what could happen. This would be a perfect time for the enemy to attack because they are so vulnerable. Or at this point, with all these factors, Alexandria could crumble. I think it might be a good idea for the time being to move everyone from Kingtop and Alexandria to Oceanside and prepare for an attack as one big group.

Joe says

Considering how many people seem to be sick and how few doctors there are to help treat them, there’s very little way for the community to protect themselves. If the Whisperers decided to make a full-on assault of Alexandria, I doubt that they would have much trouble destroying the community. Unless a cure to the sickness can be found fast, things are only going to get worse for all the Alexandrians. While I’m not sure about his motivations, this could be why Aaron is trying to form a connection with Gamma: to take the Whisperers out from the inside rather than by brute force.

Renee says

With so many sick at Alexandria, it could be terrible if they were attacked. And, now that Carol and Daryl have their hostage there, an attack is something that could happen once the Whisperers find out they took one of their people. They may need to reach out to the other communities to ask for some backup.

Adam says

Michonne, Judith, and others are not in Alexandria while others in the community are sick. Their small numbers definitely leave them vulnerable to attacks from both a walker horde as well as the Whisperers themselves. Daryl and Carol seem to be coming and going as they please, so they might not be there either. It’s scary to think they’d leave a community so defenseless without asking for help from someone else.
