Overall Impression!

So, this episode of The Walking Dead felt very different from several of the others so far this season. After seven episodes of setting up scenarios in season 10 where either amazing or horrible things were going on to set up a conflict, many of those came to a head this week.

Episode 1007 tied up storylines involving an abducted Whisperer, Alpha’s lie, who the mole in Alexandria was, the polluted water, and more were matched with revelations about Lydia’s future, Siddiq’s trauma, and Gamma’s place with the Whisperers.

With doing all that, there was still time for some character development, specifically with Rosita, Carol, Aaron, and others. It really was surprising that AMC was able to fit so much into one installment of the series.

For me, the highlight of this week’s episode was the interaction between Gamma and Aaron. It’s easy to see that Thora Birch and Ross Marquand are amazing actors and their interaction was both friendly and intense. Those scenes had to be tough to pull off considering how much emotion was needed for all of it.

Of course, the big twist in the final moments explains a lot of what was going on with the sickness as well as surprised me big time with his betrayal. The fact that Dante was a Whisperer is mind-blowing and shows that Alpha may have planned this all out further ahead of time than a lot of us think.

As a whole, I really enjoyed this episode and it made me want to watch the midseason finale RIGHT NOW! There was great acting, surprises, developments, and precursors to what will come next week!

EPISODE GRADE: 9.1/10
