The Walking Dead spinoff finally has a name as TWD3 officially becomes The Walking Dead: World Beyond, the title arrives with a new trailer.

The latest installment of The Walking Dead franchise finally has a name as the spinoff known as TWD3 becomes The Walking Dead: World Beyond. The new show, which debuts in Spring 2020, features a younger cast of characters trying to make sense of the apocalypse. Fans were also treated to a new trailer in addition to the big title reveal on Sunday night.

As titles go, World Beyond works on so many levels. The new show takes place worlds away from the action of The Walking Dead flagship and the first spinoff Fear the Walking Dead, even though there is plenty of room for crossovers in the future.

World Beyond reflects the desire of the show’s characters to learn more about the world beyond the walls of their community, which is what makes it so very perfect. The story is about a group of young men and women whose memories are steeped in what happened after the world fell apart, so much so that the world before is a very distant memory.

The newest trailer features a closer look at the helicopters that have been spotted before across The Walking Dead Universe. The black choppers with three interconnected circles are well known to comic book fans, and they’re known to the show’s fans as the helicopters that carried Rick and Jadis away in The Walking Dead season 9 as well as being the same group that popped up in Fear season 5

The new trailer also revealed a new cast member with Julia Ormond appearing as a member of the helicopter community. Who she is or what her purpose is isn’t known at this point, but she doesn’t look like someone who you would want to cross.

The latest spinoff has a lot of potential to take the world of The Walking Dead in an entirely new direction, and based on my experience visiting the set in November 2019 I can tell you that there is so much more going on in this new world that the trailers don’t even begin to touch upon.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is scheduled to debut in Spring 2020.
