Has Michonne Gone For Good?

It’s no secret Danai has left the show to pursue other projects, and so most fans have been waiting with bated breath to see how Michonne would be written out this season. It seems Virgil was the answer, as this episode saw Michonne headed off to his weapon-heavy island with him.

However, Michonne is only intending to be gone a couple of days, so what developments change the course of her journey to take her away long-term?

We can safely and gratefully assume she won’t die, thanks to Scott Gimple’s assurance at San Diego Comic-Con that they are “not completely done” with Michonne. So what looms into Michonne’s horizon that would be vital enough to take her away from her children?

Only two options spring to mind, though both might lead to the same destination.

The first is that Michonne is taken without her consent, suffering the same fate as Rick. It’s possible that Virgil may be connected with the helicopter people who took Rick in season 9 who would surely recognise that Michonne is also an “A” type person and kidnap her for their secret purposes.

The second possibility is that she goes voluntarily. One can only assume that the only thing that would take her away from her children for a prolonged period would be the discovery that her late husband is not so late. The chance to find Rick and, presumably, eventually return home to their children is definitely a quest that could take her far from home, and eventually tie into a movie plot.
