Daryl Dixon

Daryl is a character I have had mixed feelings about for years. After spending the bulk of the story with the Saviors in revenge mode, it’s been refreshing to see the changes in him during this eight-episode stretch.

Season 10 has given us a Daryl that is much more thoughtful in his actions while doing his best to get through to Carol, his long-time companion/BFF and maybe more. He’s uncle to Rick and Michonne’s children, has been learning another language to communicate with Connie, and has stepped up as a leader in his own right. He has also stepped into a big brother/father role for Lydia.

Hearing Daryl use actual words instead of mumbling or grunting his way through his dialogue has been a treat for Daryl fans who have missed this side of Daryl.

His scenes with Carol have been particularly powerful because of how well the actors play off each other and the history between these two characters. They have great chemistry on-screen and that hasn’t changed as the characters evolved.

I hope to see more of this Daryl going forward.
